Need some help from the vets in here
I'm looking for some of the more obscure hard rock and metal bands. Really, what I need is some hard mad fast shit (a la Motorhead). Angry stuff. The reason why is I lift weights and I need some stuff to pump me up. Currently in the iPod I have plenty of AC/DC, Motorhead, Rage (which is suprisingly good for lifting), Alice Cooper, Rainbow, some Ramones, Pistols, Danzig, oh, and how can I forget, Judas Priest.
Now I KNOW there are some other bands out there that are in this same category. I just don't know who they are. I'll tell you what I DON'T want--Slayer, Megadeth and ANY of this new metal where all the dudes do is scream (like SlipKnot). Can any of the older bros help me out? I'd be glad to share what I know as well.
Lemmy Is God.
Thanks

Matt Pike (vocalist/guitarist) often gets compared to Lemmy in his vocal style. Its more recent metal though.

Old, fast, easy-to-listen-to "metal" that isn't on your list?
Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath

I lift to thrash metal most of the time, actually. It is probably the time when I listen to most of my thrash. I don't know what would be wrong with Slayer or Megadeth for pumping iron, but if you don't like them you might check out some of the In Flames stuff from the late 90's. They are more melodic, although you would have to get used the growls if you have a problem with that.

I've always enjoyed Life of Agony's first two albums. Along with Iced Earth, Corrosion of Conformity's "Blind" is killer, Pantera's first 3 I can vouch for, Anthrax's "Sound of White Noise" is a classic, Helmet. . . good stuff.

Exodus is really good for working out but they may fall into your "screaming" vocal category. They have great music they helps get you in the mood to lift. I prefer music with a heavy rhythm section for working out so this list is a lot of what I listen to:
Ministry - "The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste" and "Psalm 69"
Mastodon - "Leviathan" and "Remission"
Satyricon's new album "Now, Diabolical"
Superjoint Ritual - "A Lethal Dose of American Hatred"
System of a Down - "System of a Down"
Pantera - "A Vulgar Display of Power"
Monster Magnet, Corrosion of Conformity, and Buckcherry (not really metal) also come to mind...

I'll be honest, if you want "hard mad fast angry shit", most of the time, its going to include intense vocals.
The Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judus Priest, Accept, Rainbow, etc. vocals are more rare nowadays.
"Growling" takes a little bit to get used to, but if you can't accept them, it may be difficult to enjoy many bands in this genre (metal).

I would recommend using Myspace to find what you need there are tons of bands on there that are hard, fast, and heavy. They may not be big but alot of them sound really good.
