1.
Taylor and
Coltrane only recorded once (for
United Artists) and it was a
studio recording originally out under
Taylor's name as
Hard Driven Jazz but now is released by
Blue Note under
Coltrane's name as
Coltrane Time.
2. He performed live with
Max a few times (twice in 1999 and
3 times in
2000) and the one from
1979 released as
Historic Concerts is the one I was at. One of those in
2000 was also recorded at
Columbia Universtiy just like the
1979 performance Satchmo happened to be there.
3. You're really missing
a lot of his best recordings. I am really surprised you don't have two of his most essential recordings....especially since the second one was reissued yet again a
4 years back by
Hathut. Speaking of which as fast as they go out of print! You might want to get it while you can!!!!
If you were around in the last year you seen the knowledge dropped about it up from
Jazz Loft for
$6.99 during one of their
Hathut sales.

Nefertiti, the Beautiful One Has Come
One Too Many Salty Swift and Not Goodbye
Unit Structures is essential from his early period.
The others from that period that should be in every collection before he went
Free Improv
Jazz in Advance
Love for Sale
Conquistador
When I have more time I will drop more knowledge on the others; however, except for a few of the
Leo Records recordings....you really can't go wrong with anything by him. I have said this several times on here....he's really at his best in
small group or
solo situations.
One of the
horde tell me that many of his live performances have been posted on
dimeadozen. If you're into downloading things and can become a member.
