YOU AM I - Hi Fi Way

YOU AM I
Hi Fi Way

Hi Fi way was released back in 1994. The reason I am reviewing it now is because I believe the album to be highly underrated outside of Australia.

This is the second album from the band and the second to be produced by SONIC YOUTH’S Lee Ranaldo. While it still contains much of the sonic power of their first album “sound as ever their sound has matured and Tim Rogers’ song writing has blossomed. The songs contained on this album have a real feel of THE WHO or the KINKS mixed with that early 90’s alternative rock feel. Every song on this album is a real winner. It is the sort of album that on listening to each song you think “this song can’t be topped and every time you are proved wrong, song after song of complete gems. I highly recommend this album to anyone who likes 60’s or 90’s rock. I don't think there has been an Australian album that has topped this one since its release 12 years ago.

Best songs: How much is enough, Jewels and Bullets, Purple Sneakers, The Applecross wing commander, Cathy’s Clown

Rating 9.5/10
