Even at the height of my metal-hating (which, as seen by recent events, is a period that has officially come to a close ), I never considered it mindless.

I think you are not right. A good thread. This title and variation covers much.

i think you're spamming this forum. if you can't figure out how to string together a few sentences to get a discussion going then i'm going to close any further thread you start.

actually fuck it. NO is the answer. not because it's metal or whatever but there's no style of music that destroys minds. the only time any style of music is deemed to be destructive towards people is when an older generation is looking for a scapegoat to cover their own fuckups. kids were rebellious in the 50s, holy fuck it's because of elvis and not the fact that most of those same kids didn't have a father at home because he was off serving in the war. no parent EVER fucks up, it's all about the music the devil sends to kids.... slack assed motherfuckers just don't want to step up to their own responsibility once it no longer benefits them. a destroyed mind can still appreciate a good soundtrack for their final spins around the sun but the music is never the source of the destruction.

I've been saying this for years... about a lot of things, not just music. Video games are another one that people keep blaming for kids' behavior. Meanwhile, they forget that murder (including mass murder) happened long before electricity. People can be so blind. And parents can be so neglectful...

It's all the fault of that first caveman with a couple bones. Here he was just trying to celebrate the day's hunt. Throw in logs and look at the resulting madness since then.

Basically, I blame Ringo Starr.

P.S. Not sure why anyone even bothered with this thread.

^ It was some kind of morbid fascination, for me... :P

Great video. I love the expressions on the cavepeople's faces. That must have been how I looked when I first heard Opeth live.

I have to disagree with you on that Satchmo, I think that every thread can be interesting, even if it sounds really stupid, I do enjoy reading others point of view.

I swear man, your always bashing something. Every post I read from you you always complain about something insignificant. Seriously if you don't like the thread why did you even bother to post in it. If you dont like this thread make a better one about your own opinions of metal.

Metal in my opinion doesn't destroy minds. It might not be the most intellectual music in the world but its music none the less. It probably doesn't harm you unless they are singing about extreamly violent images and you listen to it constantly. If you are exposed to anything too violent too much then it can be bad for you.

your welcome for the advice i gave you about synths too...

i'm also the moderator for this section and this age old thread was started by someone who was basically spamming these forums with links for his forums (as shown in his sig) with, at most, one sentence posts that never amount to more than "well?". so that's why i addressed his thread the way i did.

seriously this thread had been inactive for almost a full freaking year up until yesterday.

I don't believe it destroys the mind.

It is my favorite style to play, my second favorite style is Blues.
