jazz-guitar (suggestions?)
im looking for some jazz-tunes with crazy guitars in it, like "du-duuu-di-bi-bi-balo-balo-ba-biing...flop-ding-ding-du-da-di-da" etc etc.
i would appreciate if you could give me the names of some artists or groups i could listen to. also, what style of jazz that stuff is usually called.

Django Reinhardt - Swing (the most influential European musician. Did it all with only 2 1/2 working fingers on his left hand.) He was the first person to make a completely improvised recording.
Charlie Christian - Swing/Bop (think Hendrix type of influence. Also like Hendrix, he did it in a very short time frame (2.5 years) by the time he died of TB at 26. He was also the first really influential electric guitar player. Up until 1965, if someone played the guitar it was Christian who influenced them, even if they didn't know it.
Wes Mongtgomery - Hard Bop/Soul Jazz
Derek Bailey - Free Improv
Joe Pass - Bop/Hard Bop
The first four are four of the most influential guitar players no matter what genre of music.

You mean the TOP four or those four are near the top? No matter what genre? How about Segovia and classical guitar?
To OP: I really like George Benson's The Other Side of Abbey Road.

I mean when you discuss most influential guitar players, no matter genre....they have to be mentioned.
Benson is like Pat Metheny. Great technique, but is only interested in the Benjamins. I wouldn't waste any money on him.

Pat Metheny on Coleman's Song X is awesome and I stand behind OSOAR.
Props on including Derek Bailey.

For Joe Pass, I would recommend his solo recording Virtuoso.
