Some people wouldn't call them punk but I completly disagree with them and think you have to get Greenday's newest album American Idiot. The Hives had a couple of really cool albums in the past five years (their only ones I mean). Atric Monkeys are actually a hybrid of punk and disco but they are amazingly good.

I don't know... the thing is that nowadays we can argue about music styles for hours without any result! x) But I like Reel Big Fish (Ska) & Goldfinger... maybe they are not completely punk... but Californian punk punk-rock is punk as well!

Could you give an example, please?! I've been looking for some really fresh Ska & Californian punk bands for a long time and haven't found anything interesting! What do you think about Arctic Monkeys?!

I like the artic monkeys.

Check out this band http://www.peacedogman.com/082005epox.htm

I'm not into nu ska punk bands. Some of these bands are from the calipunk scene of the 90's they are not fresh but I am not really into new melodic punk

PROPAGANDHI
PENNYWISE
NO USE FOR A NAME
LAGWAGON
DAG NASTY
COFFIN BREAK
EPOXIES

not that they are all from california but they all belong to that melodic punk scene of the 90's that got the name cali' punk. There are heeps of others check out the fat wreckchords web site or even the epitaph web site.

look up the record label "hellcat records" and look into every band there... i find they pick some decent bands to give a contract to.
