He's someone who has somehow become the #1 selling solo act in the United Kingdom....while but at the same time not being able to give them away in the U.S. or Canada. Back in 2002 EMI gave him a $100 million deal that made it the biggest contract given to someone not named Michael Jackson. Today that deal would be worth $156.6 million.

It's hampered EMI ever since.

I know that Robbie Williams couldn't sell shit to flies in America. It's strange. Oasis always struggled in America as well, while being about the most praised European 'rock' group in Europe in the 90s.

Well since you said "...somehow..." let me elaborate on this a little:
Circa 15 years ago there was an English boygroup named Take That. All girls under 17 loved them here, and alot of older ones too. Then Take That split. I'll never forget that day! There were girls crying in school everywhere! On the bus, on the floors, in class...it was unbelievable! As if someone had just shot their dog! Then, a year later, the youngest Take That ex-member - Robbie Williams - released his first solo album, it was what was then called Britpop style (a synonym for someone ripping of Oasis IMO). Went straight to the top in the UK and in Germany and probably everywhere else in western Europe. All the girls who were listening to Take That just yesterday now bought Robbie's albums. And still do. Williams is one of only a few rock/pop acts who actually outsold stadiums in Germany, and by far the youngest.
Only in the past two years or so it's gotten a little quiet around him. His heavy drug abuse now caught up with him, and even he himself noticed that he had become more than a little repetative, musically that is.
He made big ass statements that he was gonna play the next James Bond, that he was gonna bang Beckham's wife sooner or later, that he's gonna bang Anna Netrebko sooner or later, that he had banged Kylie Minogue countless times and that he won't be banging Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice" of The Spice Girls) anymore cause he realized she looked butt ugly.

Just BTW, when Take That broke up the then vacant top spot in the European boygroup section was quickly occupied by a certain group named Backstreet Boys, who became stars in Germany first before they successfully exported their crap westward.

That reminds me. I need to buy Number of the Beast again. My CD is too scratched.

1. This is Satchmo.....you really think to take all the time to do that?

2. However, it's one of (if not) your funniest posts.

3. So when all those girls were falling down crying....did Grasshoppa-in-training T/R go into the comforting Don Juan mode?

1) Like you said elsewhere, I guess I just wanted to make sure you got it.

2) Thanks, I enjoy bashing artists I don't like, especially when I know that there's nobody around to defend them. One could say I'm ready for one of all those vacant mod-spots, hehe.

3) Grasshoppa-in-training (for whatever that actually means) in those days was going through his Metallica/Manowar phase. Act tough, act mean, act aggressive towards anyone who shows weakness. Did so at home, in school, everywhere he went. And especially towards girls. Thank God (and Def Leppard, too) things were soon about to change. The rest is history and classified.

1. You have been around here long enough to know....unless I straight out ask....I know, already. With you on the other hand....it's still a bit difficult being able to tell at times if your serious or attempting the T/R personality of old.

2. So what you're saying is you were in the girls are icky phase (Personally, never understood that one.) and was in full invade Belgium/France mode?

So basically....you figured the quickest way you were going to get a date was become one with Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, et al?
