If you want to hear real RnB, you have to go back about 50 or 60 years.

Not exactly that far back, unless you're dissin' James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Temptations, etc...., etc...., yada, yada?
Now....a person can skip pretty much everything in the last 22 years since Marvin Gaye was shot. On April's Fools day of all days, and one day before his 45th birthday. When someone told me about it and who shot him, I thought the person must have been a real mental midget to think, I would fall for something that absurd sounding.

I am Satchmo and I approve this message.

No, one wouldn't have to go that far back, but why not ride the storm back a little farther and make your way forward?
Yep, Marvin's old man was a real nut all right.

No reason, but you didn't point that out to them in your post. Your post made it seem that the only "Real" R&B was from 50 or 60 years ago.

Fair enough. Nonetheless, the young'uns (what is it you call them, grasshoppas?) could use some schoolin', starting with maybe some "I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta, some "Hard Times" by Brother Ray, "Please Please Please" by James, a little "Inner City Blues" with Marvin, "You Haven't Done Nothing" by Stevie, and so on and so forth and all that falls in between - but not after...
When they can snatch the pebbles from our hands, they will be ready to leave this place.

Y'know, I saw Etta live, last October or so (personally, I prefer All I Could Do Was Cry). And I have a 9-disc set of Brother Ray's, as well as a good deal of James Brown. It'll be a long time before I know nearly as much as you or Satchmo (or til I can snatch the pebbles from your hands (if ever, for the latter)), but you can stop acting like I need training wheels.
