How sensitive are CDs to heat?
Are they gonna get dead if I leave a few in my car this summer?

The entire summer? What kind of temperatures would that cover.
Normally, the polycarbonate plastic used to mold CDs is strong, but high temperatures can eventually cause damage over time. If it's a CDR it won't last as long as "normal" CDs.

I have one of those little books of ten or twelve that I keep in the car until I go through 'em then I grab a new set. I alternate with cassettes and NPR and stuff so the same cds sit in my car for a three weeks or so I suppose. Most of them are cdrs.

Is there a particular reason, you just don't take them inside every night?
There probably shouldn't be damage, but I can't give you a guarantee....especially on the cdrs....not all are of the same quality.
If what is on the cdrs is rare....why take a chance? However, if rare you really should have backups....then it wouldn't matter.

At night I'm not worried cause it's not so hot. It's during the day when I'm at work.

Like I said, I really don't think there should be a major issue. But you might want to make a backup, if you haven't already.

instead of going to work - stay inside the car and give the cd's the proper protection by blocking the sun with your enormous body.
