A Syd or Satchmo, HELP!!!! post

Since I don't do compilations....at least something like this....which Volumes would you be asking about so I can check what songs were included.

I agree about the Cohen, and really wouldn't call A Musical History a compilation.

This and this.

Also, I would call A Musical History a compilation, just a very complete one.

Yeah, if you get them for the used prices on Amazon....I would recommend them. There is some classic stuff that is well known and not so well known included.

Keep in mind, there really is Garage Rock and not Psychedelic.

I think my favorite compilation is The Band's A Musical History.

I dunno, i think being a over-avid Cohen fan helps me greatly. I agree that some of this later stuff had some frowned apon elements in, but you cant take anything away from what he writes about and how he conveys. If Cohen was all about production and sound, he would never have gone past Songs From A Room. I have no problems listening to his stuff from start to finish (and Essential Cohen is a fair reflection of what he has done).

I think what im saying is that i'm not a good-weather listener of Cohen, early stuff, later stuff, plain guitars to synthetic sounds... i love it all..

I am only guessing at what he meant, but I believe the point was with calling it "Essential Cohen", when it's not. A 'fair refletion' is vastly different than Essential.

^^ lol, i have this tendancy to speed read.

but in fairness, with a career spanning over 40 years, your bound to include alot of 'newer' stuff that since i think to most he fell of the radar with 'The Future' and most of the stuff that came out after that, and that wasnt even half-way into his career. I also admit that i listen to the older stuff more, and was better, but hell id give it to a 70+ year old guy still putting out meaningful stuff

sorry for the previous post then
