I'm not sure about my favourite but I like The Herd. They're a group of musicians who are all under the same record label ( www.elefanttraks.com) and have come together to make music. There are about 10 of them so I think The Herd really suits them.

Butthole Surfers is a great name but the name Merzbow seems to have mystical properties. I also really like The Experience, Sun Ra, Ghostface Killah, Slick Rick, Captain Beefheart, The Fall and Chicken Bowels.
