I've abandonned regular broadcast stations - except the local ones for traffic and news and stuff when I'm driving around. At home the only radio I listen to is internet radio. I've found some interesting gems along the way - like the Radio Paradise station.

As with most others here, I do tend to find my music mostly through online research and talking to people like Satch.

I remember, when I was poor, and music costed a lot, and I'd sit around the radio with a spare cassette tape I found - you know when you put the tape over the bit to record over it - then wait for my favorite songs to come on to tape it. Man...

Left end of the FM dial

Here in the northeast we have a vibrant 'scene' of non-commercial FM radio stations to choose from. These are college or community stations that give DJs complete control of their programming. It can be hit or miss (like shopping in a record store), but there are plenty of music loving folks, just like us au courant radiomuters, who are wheeling and dealing over the airwaves. I've been discovering and rediscovering interesting music for years at the bottom of the dial. My guess is that once you get off the coasts that the lower end of the FM dial may become more slim pickings, musically speaking.

The only radio station I listen to is Triple J, although it's been getting worse over the years, it's still good. You can listen to it over the net:
