Best Band Thus Far This Decade

Which do you think is the best so far?

Lemme know who I missed. I'm sure I missed someone. It's not easy pleasing everyone, ya know.

hmm, i thought you meant of bands that have started within the decade... in which case i'd have to say that all bands from 2000 on arent very good.

Er,...Bob Dylan?

Is that a different Bob Dylan than the one who peaked in the 60's?

Everybody, including me, writes alot of solid bands off because we dont wanna listen to this new wave of shit-rock. Im talking new bands. A good example would be 30 seconds to mars,10 years. There has to be a reason why there are so little good new bands coming up, according to us anyway. Im gonna put some effort into getting into newer bands. 10 years is the best NEW new band imo.

I think the best band of the decade so far is the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Their best album ever was By The Way and Stadium Arcadium is one of their best ones. Even though the songs on Stadium Arcadium are a bit too repetitive the song writing aside from that has improved. They just have too much combined vocal and instrumental talent for the any of the other bands to equal them (Sure, The White Stripes, Audioslave, and Wolfmother have a lot, but the Chilli Peppers are on a whole other level. Sometimes when your driving in car with Anthoy's voice and Flea's bass they can put you into a trance if you're not careful). Jack White of the White Stripes is the best guitar player out there though hands down.

I am interested....how can an album you call "a bit too repetitve" and a great many others on here, would call going through the motions, be one of their best?

Everybody? You can't even speak for the 17,899 of members this single BB is supposed to have, let alone the rest of the world.

There are several members on this board alone, beside myself, who listen to new bands/musicians. Even in a pile of manure, you might find a diamond. There are also times, when the manure leads to something worth while growing because of it. Without THE ULTIMATE HORROR as one factor, you probably wouldn't have had Punk in response....without Hair Metal/Corporate Rock....no Alternative/Grunge.

Music like everything else goes in cycles. Every decade no matter how bad the mainstream is going, you will find worthwhile if not great recordings being released.

However, you have a better chance of finding that....if you don't limit your taste to any one genre of music.

As Duke Ellington said, "There is only two kinds of music. Good music, and that other kind."

I consider Ryan Adam's Heartbreaker a serious contender for best album thus far in the new millennium.
