I am surprised, in fact shocked that The White Stripes haven't gotten a single vote. They have, what, four albums this decade, right? I've heard Radiohead freaks say that they are better than Radiohead when considering this decade's output exclusively.

No love for The Shins? Or Broken Social Scene? And I'm also quite surprised that Wilco only got one vote.

I adore the shins, but I don't think they are this decade's best band.

Yes, Muse were influenced heavily by Radiohead but when people call them a "Radiohead rip-off" I believe that's going a bit far. Muse is their own band as much as most any I've ever heard. I can't say enough about Absolution.

Right on the money!!

i have to say that when i first started to listen to muse, i found that i could also see that, but if you take the directions that muse and radiohead has taken, they are now totally diffrent. Remember that the massive sound that they generate is comprised only of 3 people, and i think that is plain and simply amazing. TBH i think Yorke has started to almost shy away from making his voice the dominant instrument, whilst muse are emracing Bellamy's pounding and haunting voice with sad tales of lost love and destruction. Youll have to look very hard (excluding showbiz) to find a simple and un-layered song such as some of my favourite Radiohead tunes. All the sounds of Muse are re-produced live, via pedals, where Radiohead contain multiple layers of synthetic sounds similar to modern trancy-like music like Infected Mushroom (in my opinion).. i have no problem with muse being influenced by radiohead, since i think most modern british bands are influenced by them similar to the beatles influencing most bands that came after them. the ultimate sin for me is trying to re-produce a sound that is a trademark of another, and there muse is not guilty. If i were to start a band Muse and Leonard Cohen would both be influences, but its finding this middleground between who you are and who influenced you that really what makes a band, and i think that muse got it spot on!

sorry for typos and grammar

Of the bands I know on the list, (minus Dylan, who really shouldn't be on there) I think The Shins are the overall best group.

I suppose the fans of The White Strpes are also fans of other popular bands which they voted for instead. Perhaps if they actually thought about their vote or had a 3-2-1 vote then they might be going better.

ARe the foo fighters on that list?? I couldn't find them. I think they are a very solid, consistent band. I'm not huge fan, infact I don't own any of their cd's but I do respect them and I do enjoy almost all of their singles as a bit of light hearted, easy listening. I think they deserve to be on that list.

As for my choise? radiohead? the white stripes? Block Party? QOTSA? Rock is really boring me at he moment.

Well my vote goes to Melt Banana, Jaga Jazzist, Isis and Ulver. Yet more bands missing on a hopelessly misguided poll with too many choices, many of which are peculiar additions, at best. A partial thumb up for Deerhoof, however.

I do like how GYBE is on there but A Silver Mt Zion is missing

Ah, the Foo Fighters! I do like them and have pretty much all of their albums. Yes, Nirvana was the better band but for me, I prefer the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl rocks!!!
