They just have too much combined vocal and instrumental talent for the any of the other bands to equal them (Sure, The White Stripes, Audioslave, and Wolfmother have a lot, but the Chilli Peppers are on a whole other level. Sometimes when your driving in car with Anthoy's voice and Flea's bass they can put you into a trance if you're not careful). Jack White of the White Stripes is the best guitar player out there though hands down.

Listened to Muse. So basically, majority of the people in this forum like either Radiohead or is soundalike. It is stunning how unoriginal this band is.

I disagree. They're british and they sing high pitch. Thats not enough to make that assumption.

Reasons
-Muse has a PHAT guitar and bass sound, while Radiohead the opposite(clean and simple guitar playing, and it later years: electronic keyboards).
-Radiohead is lyric-based, Muse is instrument based.
-The lyrics differ like day and night. Matt Bellamy sing first person and Radiohead predominantly 3rd person.
-Lives shows.
-Influences(claimed by them) Radiohead : Jeff Buckley, Muse : Seattle Grunge & Pumpkins

.... I've obviously had this argument before.

Not a "soundalike" at all in my view. I am not a Radiohead listener at ALL, but Muse is a favourite! To me also like day and night! Some similarities, but totally different styles of music!

Well... the lead singer sounds exactly like yorke and the songs all sound like inspired quite a lot from Ok Computer/Bends.

Edit: I'm not implying that the band is bad though. In fact I was able to get into their songs quite easily.

Muse were indeed influenced by Radiohead. During the early days of Muse, Matt Bellamy was very open about his love for Radiohead. Muse even went out and borrowed Radiohead's producer, the guy who produced The Bends. Showbiz is considerd to be the album where Muse rips off Radiohead the most. After that album the band pretty much sounded like a mix of Radiohead and various nu-metal bands. So in the long run Muse sorta shyed away from that Radiohead sound. And recently before Black Holes was released Matt Bellamy mentioned Radiohead and Kid A. And how that gave him inspiration to try something different.

Most Muse fans seem to get into damage control mode when someone mentions Radiohead. But I see nothing wrong with a band being influenced by another band. Radiohead themselves were very open about how REM and U2 were a big influence to them. And they've even made comments on how they ripped off those bands. But the thing about Radiohead is they actually moved on and eventually created their own sound. Which I think Muse is trying to do.

Yes, Muse were influenced heavily by Radiohead but when people call them a "Radiohead rip-off" I believe that's going a bit far. Muse is their own band as much as most any I've ever heard. I can't say enough about Absolution.
