Interesting. I've never thought of Led Zeppelin as the kind of group you "grow out of." I figured The Osmonds, David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman were to be out grown.

I don't listen to Led Zeppelin much any more but they're still among my top 5 favorite bands. Yea, I know, it's weird to not listen much to a band I claim to be one of my top five, but I listen to so much music I find it difficult to listen to anything "a lot."

In any case, I doubt I'll grow out of Led Zeppelin any faster than I'll grow out of any of the other bands I've discovered as a grown up type person. Okay, so I discovered Zeppelin in my teens - when they were still a band and all. But it's just so different from things I assume people will grow out of. Well, most people. My twenty-something daughter-in-law still seems to like N Sync...ah well, she's a perfect wife and mom so I suppose a small flaw is only to be expected somewhere.

I couldn't listen to the Beatles for several years....but that didn't have anything to do with growing out of them. That you can blame on Peter Frampton and The Brothers Gibb....As I mentioned before, I still don't listen to Sgt Peppers as much as I used to before The Abomination.

It took me a few listens, but it grows on ya. No collection is complete without an AIC unplugged DVD. Everyone'll agree. From there on its downhill.

Well, I'm sure I'll get over Zep before I get over Hendrix or the Beatles...but I'll probably never do that anyway, so...what was the question?

Seriously, I think that it really does have a lot to do with the "coolness quotent", and that's something I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to in a long time. At 49, I'm hopelessly "uncool" anyway, so it just doesn't matter to me anymore. I like what I like. And Led Zeppelin is definitely among my "likes".

It never had a thing to do with coolness, for me. I'm gonna sound like some typical, "standing away from the crowd" teenager, but when I was at the height of my Led Zeppelin interest, kids outside my closest circle of friends laughed at you for liking old music. By the time they took their heads out of their asses, listened to it, and Zeppelin became their favorite band, I was deep into jazz, and no one thought (nor do they still think) that's cool because it lacks guitar, vocals, and constant melody. By the time they start getting into jazz (if ever, I doubt they will, at least not in high school), who knows, I'll probably be submerged in classical.

I've been into Zeppelin since junior high, I try not to overplay them, just like with anything else, so I doubt I'll ever grow out of them

I could care less how much music anyone has listened to, or how many books they've read on music, or how many music classes they've taken, or how many instruments they play. ANYONE who discounts the brilliance of one Jimmy Page loses much credibility with me.

hmm... i think it's just the opposite. Zeppelin is becoming hip with young folk. anyone who doesn't list rap/hip-hop as their genre of choice embraces Zep.

and, like i said, maybe this is why they're falling out of favour with me. sometimes i think i automatically stick up my nose because some meat-head with horrid taste calls Zeppelin his favourite band. i think "i can't possibly enjoy something this philistine embraces" and therefore unfairly rebuke my once favourite band.

and, like i also said, i'll be the first to say each member is extraordinarily talented. althought calling page the greatest songwriter of the 20th century a bit of a stretch...

i daresay, i've got another can of worms to open...

^^^ I agree, Zep as a 'favourite band' is becoming a bit of a trend
