Grasshoppa Geryon dropped that site on me, a bit back. It's actually a good site, that I would recommend to you. In some cases, those people rating; have a lot more of a clue than the so called "professional" reviewers.
How can Satchmo complain about a site that lists DA MONK & Coltrane as the 3rd best recording of 2005?

Yeah, from what I can tell you make an account and then rate the albums you listen to, which is how, using an average, they create all their "Top X" lists.

What's the point of the site? I mean, other than 'rating your music', what's the pleasure in having other people see what you think of the music you listen to?

It's useless for people like you and I, but for those new to any particular style of genre it could be of help.

I don't know, it's cool to see that other people listen to the same stuff? And it's a pretty good tool to find about new things. He may not admit it, but I'm pretty sure there are albums on there that Satchmo doesn't know about. It's like a database, which is maybe less reliable in data than Allmusic, but way quicker and there are some very good reviewers on there, like Darknessfish for example.
