Smile Help with my Ipod Mini

I am hoping that someone can help me with my ipod problem. I have an ipod mini and loaded music through my laptop. Well my laptop has a problem with the charger and is dead. Is there anyway to load the songs that are already on my ipod onto my new desktop computer? I just don't want to lose all the money and time I invested. Thanks for any advice.

I don't think you can take songs off an ipod and put them onto your computer, but I could be wrong. I think it has a copyright protection thing built into it so you can't take files off an ipod and share them. There is probably a program or something which will do it though.

I don`t have an ipod, but I think you`ll get pass the copyright protection if you install iTunes and log in to it with your desktop computer. Then you should be allowed to store them there shouldn`t you? But it`s possible that when you plug it into an empty iTunes, that it will erase all the songs on the pod as it tries to mirror the computer, so I`ve gathered. The whole issue is absurd.

Have you called Apple yet and told them about your situation?

I also recall seeing some program on download.com that supposedly will transfer the songs on your iPod to your PC. Not sure if it's worth the risk yet though.

Geryon's right, there are several such programs. I used to use one, now when I'm transferring music from computer to computer I just open up the iPod file from the desktop and drag whatever I want to transfer in into the file, then drag it out on the other computer; it basically works as a portable hard drive. This doesn't help your situation, really, but I figured I'd just put it out in the open.
