Just through friends and radio really. I bought a metal compilation CD which was by the radio station I listen to because I got given a shop voucher by my Aunt and it was the best CD in the store at the time.

when I was in my teenage years, I was really sick of hongkong's pop music. so I started listening to music from england. at the time, depeche mode was my favorite and still is. and then, my friend told me about AC/DC but it wasn't really my cup of tea. and then I found Iron Maiden in a record store and thought the cover was totally beautiful. I think it was number of the beast. and after that, I totally dug their music. now I don't listen to metal anymore. I moved on to other music territories. but I am glad I found Iron Maiden and depeche mode. they let me know that music can be done in different ways than the poppy cheesy way.

I agree that alot of Pop music can be annoying . I listen to various Genres of music besides Metal as well , but I don't think I will ever stop listening to Metal completely . Infact I'm listening to Kasvet ( A Rap Band ) at the moment . I'm also fond of Depeche Mode and , of course , Iron Maiden !

I love how the first song on the first CD is Tool. \m/(><)\m/ All-time favorite.
I started listening to rock and somehow got into harder rock, eventually metal. It's great, so I keep on listening to it, it'll never die.

Thumbs up Iron Maiden, woohoo!

No one ever recommended metal to me.

I evolved into it.

From Pop -> Alternative -> Emo -> Punk -> Power -> Industrial -> Gothic
