And where did you get the idea that I haven't listened to Coltrane? I certainly never said that. True, I haven't heard much more than A Love Supreme but I have heard a bit of his stuff...and I dig.

Fair enough...I was bit presumptuous there, but you did say you weren't going to listen to any jazz until you were 40.

If you like A Love Supreme, you may want to go ahead and check out more of Coltrane's catalog. Not all of it is that strong, but most of it is as good or better. He had a notably consistent run once he kicked his habit.

Speaking of kicking a habit, thanks to you guys I "kicked" the idea of putting off collecting jazz til my 40s. I mentioned it on another board. I do believe I was misunderstood from the getgo, however. I never implied that I wasn't going to listen to jazz or buy any jazz albums until then. I live in a place currently where you have to travel at least 45 miles to find a library that checks out jazz albums. If that wasn't the case I would be checking them out all the time. But I'm convinced that I need to buy a few from the masters of jazz before I further add to my rock collection. Miles, Coltrane, Monk, Brubeck, and Morgan come to mind.

Check out my Recommend Me Some Jazz board. And thanks, guys, for waking me up to what I've been neglecting for too long.
