When is the new Metalicca? Have they really changed from what they've always been.

if you want more of a moog cookbook style sound then go for 'vero electronics'. 'avant hard' is great though, the addition of a live drummmer adds so much to their sound on this album, 'add insult to injury' is more of the same without sounding like a rehash. the last one 'loud like nature' is the most punk rock synth album i've ever heard hehehe.

I was just listening to MOP during a workout. I can't imagine someone not named Gill would have an issue noticing the difference between it and Load...

Well I have no idea what you possibly could have heard to have that impression, but that's just too bad. Not everyone gets him, and fewer still like him, but this is the first time I have heard someone accuse Waits of being phony AFTER listening to his music. Pseudo avant-garde? His stuff is downright catchy 90% of the time!

This is a strange comparison - not really sure who's actually betting on this to make it 'an old bet' - but I don't find either band overly stimulating. Metallica is too hardcore for me (the old stuff that is) and Radiohead is too artsy fartsy (ie. BORR-ING!).

I am still trying to get through an entire Radiohead album in one sitting, come to think of it. I've even made people turn off the Bends, one of their stronger albums, halfway through...

Fugazi is just one of dozens of trendy indie college rock type bands but Minor Threat basically created the blueprint for the guitar and vocal sound of American hardcore punk. Plus, Minor Threat scratches to the core of one's being while Fugazi is like something you'd hear at a frat party.

STEEEEEEUUUURIKE ONE!

Then this:

I also think Tom Waits is a phony.

STEEEEEEEUUUUURIKE TWO!!

And then this:

I just get the impression his music is insincere. Deep inside he's not an avant garde musician. He has to try to be alternative.

STEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUURIKE THREE!!! YOUR MUSICAL CREDIBILITY IS OUTTA THERE!!!!

Tom Waits issue aside...I might listen just a little more to a Coltrane Quartet fan than a Blind Melon fan who has never actually heard Coltrane, actually
