Moving out of Home (into a Flat) (Jazz Related)

I'm finally moving out of my parent's house, and moving into a flat with 2 other people.

The dilemma I face, is that I'll only be able to keep 30% of my jazz collection at the flat, and the rest will have to go to storage.

Now I'm trying to figure out what cds I should have handy, and which I should put in long term storage.

Well, if you want some free storage, I have plenty of room in my garage.

I'll keep any free-jazz that you don't have room for at the moment.

Keep Mingus with you at all times.

I have to find some boxes that fit LPs snuggly into them.

I'm sure you wanna keep some Chet Baker since you are such a great fan. Now I'm actually wondering how big your music collection is!

I did bring several Chet albums with me.

I like his playing a lot.

Less people, more music.

I'm sure they'll understand it's for the better good.

A bit late, but oh well.

You could have just made digital backups and stored them on some hard disks and took them all with you (although your vinyl would be a little trickier). It's what I do while I'm away at school -- there's no way I could store & transport 3500 CDs all the time. (Although I do take the "essentials" in case something happens back home).

Yes, I know you're an audiophile, but honestly, a 224 kbps MP3 isn't losing a whole lot of audible information, and it's still drastically smaller than PCM audio. Besides, since most CDs are dithered down from higher quality sessions & DVDs are compressed like hell, we're all listening to compressed recordings anyway (vinyl aside).
