Anyone loosing interest in electronic?

Just curious. I was big into electronic music from 2000-2003 but I have lost the passion for it. I collected music from Apollo 440, Aphex Twins, The Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Lamb, Portishead, Underworld, Prodigy, The Orb, Tricky, Massive Attack, and more during this time and even created and produced some music myself to which I was one of the lucky winners here that won a nice gift certificate in a music competition several years ago.

But now, I don't have the time to work on music much at all and sold off half of my equipment. Once in a while I will go back and pull out some old CD's to listen to but all in all... I am just not as fond of the genre as I once was. The last electronic production I bought on CD was the last the last Prodigy release. While I like a few tracks on that one pretty well... I get bored with most of it as the repetition in the structure and looping gets old quickly to me.

Its kind of scary really. My father used to listen to all the old classic rock like Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Led Zepplin which I enjoy too but he is now listening to classical and easy listening more than anything and it has made me wonder what music I will be listening to at his age. I think my tastes tend to change from time to time but none of my old favorites are every forgotten and they still sit in my huge CD collection. So, does anyone else feel less passionate about the electronic music genre as they get older or feel their tastes are changing?

I've lost a little interest, but not so much really. It looks as if you listen to all the mainstream electronic acts and I can see where it would get uninteresting. If you were to delve deeper into things you'd never heard before, electronically, I think you'd see there's a lot more out there than you could ever imagine.

i find that artists will lead you in new directions. in my experience i feel that there are so many possibilities in the genre of electronic music that i really don't see my interest decreasing because of the depth of material that is available. this material increases dramatically as well. eventually you sit back and look at the web that has been woven and realize that you probably would have never listened to music that way you do presently as you might have originally. it really challenges your thinking and imagination.

the situation here is that they are too many possibilities, there is a huge deal of interesting music being produced and released, and that actually makes it tough to make choices on what to listen.

I have lost some interest, actually, though I hate to admit it. EM used to be my only choice, my fave choice. Still is, however more and more hip-hop is making its way into my collection. I think that something has changed in the world that changes our taste. It's not that there's no decent EM being produced, it's that the motivation for listening to it isn't there anymore... also, my times of interest sync up perfectly with yours, that's too weird to be a coincedence.

this could be part of the problem... but finding good EM music that is not mainstream or solely trance or house based music seems to be hard because it lack of promotion, air play, or even notoriety and I find I don't have the time to search for "good" EM music beyond the mainstream stuff.

yep... that is what I am lacking... the "motivation" factor.

as for our similar times of interest.... I think that may be due to the genre's popularity itself during that time.... it seems to me that EM music got more air play, promotion and such during those years but it doesn't seem to be as popular anymore.
