Converge
Forgive me if this is a duplicate thread.
I've been an avid fan of these guys for as long as I can remember, ever since I first began journeying off into my own musical world, away from my parents' Beach Boys and Meat Loaf records and my older brother's strained walls breaking under the pressure of all the Slayer and Black Flag being played like a neverending torrent of spiteful dissonance.
I've long since idolized Converge, and every release so far seems better than the previous one (with the exception of You Fail Me, which is absolutely phenomenal, but pales in comparison to the mammoth ferocity and conviction of the infamous Jane Doe). These guys simply have not disappointed me, and I'm one hell of a picky music fan.
Jane Doe... Wow. This album still won't let go of me, not after over five years. I still love the guitar sound—the way the distortion is so sharp that it sounds as if the guitar strings are laced with poison and torn razors. The vocals are nothing short of pure conviction; nothing has ever screamed with such vigor, with such blood, piss, and vinegar, with such inhumanity in a metal/hardcore record before.
Wow, I sound like a raging fanboy, don't I? Well, I'll tone it down a bit (not completely, mind you) before I end the post.
I suppose what started this thread was my discovery of their merch site. Well, rediscovery, I suppose. I hopped onto Cinderblock earlier to see if they had any new, good Converge shirts since I've felt a major hankering for them as of late. Turns out, two of them are up for preview, and both look amazing, and completely unlike anything we've yet seen from them (and mineral wash, too!). I figured I'd let you cats know.
Basically, I think it's a sign we'll be seeing some awesome stuff our way in the coming months.
So, how about you guys? Does Converge shred up your world?

Well there are at least 2 other threads with the same topic as well as several related threads. Converge are indeed good and the guys are also excellent in related bands like Supermachiner.

Although grindcore and the like is probably my least favorite sub-genre, I enjoy a slew of Converge's work.
One of the first albums recommended to me on RM was Jane Doe, and even though the first few listens didn't really grab me, I enjoyed the album thoroughly later on. Good stuff

CONVERGE announce "No Heroes" as new album title, non SOTU dates announced
The upcoming CONVERGE album has been titled "No Heroes".
A brief title explanation: These days cowards outnumber the heroes, and the begging souls outweigh the calloused hands of the hardest of workers. Both in life and in art, the lack of passion is sickening and the lust for complacency is poisonous. This album is the artistic antithesis of that sinking world, a thorn in the side of their beast. It's for those who move mountains, one day at a time. It's for those who truly understand sacrifice...In our world of enemies, we will walk alone.... So yeah, that's that.
CONVERGE "No Heroes" is currently in the mixing stages of recording. More news on CONVERGE "No Heroes" will be posted when it is available.
