All those choices look pretty overrated to me. Most new rock albums give a lot of hype because magazines feel they're in hopes to begin a new era or bring the sound back. After all this, the CDs end up trash and we've wasted our time and money on them. Lets go back to the 80s and hear some real music.

Bands are excitement!! Visit ViV's website if you like Radiohead/Counting Crows/DMB/ModestMouse
one thing i've noticed from all the people that want to go back to the 80s for 'real' music is that most of them spent a fair chunk of the early 80s in diapers... sure the 80s were unique... most bands spent too much time being different and using new synthetic instruments because they could as opposed to needing it to actually make something worth listening to...
i'm not saying everything from the 80s was bad... but it was NO WHERE near as good as so many young people go on about...

the most overrated album ever is either revolver or exile on main street. I'm not some antestablishment punk who hates everything mainstream, but seriously revolver isnt significant for its time, the songs arent that great, and the other beatles albums are better written more adventurous and more consistent. Exile on main street is just a piece of shit, nowhere near as good as sticky fingers. Why this album is always touted as one of the best ever is a mystery to me
the thing about revolver is that you really need to consider WHEN it came out instead of what's on it... it's the album that paved the way for sgt. peppers... it's what finally completely broke them away from any other pop band at that time... while you're right that there are better beatles albums out there... i'd consider revolver as the most significant...
i can't comment on the stones since i'm not much of a fan...

Woorying from the list, is that RHCP Californication was in the list but not Blood Sugar sex magik. Both great albums, but nothing by them can top that album, the vibe and feel is so good.
