fruityloops could be a shit since...

when we talk about a music producing product today , we should always make some relations with MIDI standard (GM at least).
Fruity can do anything else at best but still not able to handle MIDI properly as Sonar but even older Cakewalks, Steinberg etc already done it long time ago. All above products but excepting Fruity, can do MIDI multitracking recording, meaning to extract and record each standard MIDI channels in a different track. For GM standard it should have been recorded up to 16 different midi channels separately (where 10 is for drums, 1 is for main voice, 2 for the bass etc) . So, Fruity can not live record more than one single track (channel) oncely in a pattern! If need all your keys playing you should manually extract then note by note each instrument to forward it to separate channel. You need to have all the melody in mind when record step by step in Fruity sequencer something from your keyboard. This is why Fruity is a simple toy for enthusiats or effects amateurs only but also a stupid shit for professionals since they forgot this elementary feature. When compose anything we mostly use a MIDI keyboard to interface with the PC so why Fruity avoid this ? If need to record all your virtuous playing the keys meaning all those great 16 GM MIDI channels into Sonar template you can simply press recording and do it natively. I hoped in latest Fruity to fix it but still not able to do it as Cakewalk done it years ago. So Fruity really dissapointed me...

What if you like Fruityloops better than any other program?

Well......for one MIDI Blows! That's old school and I it use it rarely. I'm a big fan of FL and I probably will always be one. I agree that it is good for amateurs but the more time you spend working with it you come to realize how much you can do with it. Now I don't produce my songs with FL alone, it's just a small part of it. I use it to make loops and one shots, and for experimenting. I combine Acidpro/SoundForge/Native Instruments/Waves/FruityLoops......
A good mic, and a strat! I find your options a much more vast when you look for your needs with the combination of several programs. No one program can please completely.
By the way, I use a MIDI keyboard with FL and I have zero problems.

Cheers,
EffectiveNow
