Bloc Party

what's the feeling about these guys? brought their debut album "Silent Alarm" and haven't taken it off yet if you haven't heard them its kinda like the Smiths meets Rjd2, also heard them described as Post punk(whatever that is i have a hard time with regular categories let alone subs) so if you've heard them what you think?
if not... http://www.blocparty.com/go.php?object=downloads
go for banquet or if you've got a penchant for the illegal downloads try "this modern love"

Great drummer, good bassplayer. I'm less keen on the rest of the band. All in all they're rather boring, methinks.

i think it's brilliant. the rhythm section is keen, and they can build a lot of good tension (positive tension, ha!). however the second half of their album lost steam, i thought. maybe i just got bored after a while, who knows. me thinks the second half deserves another listen.

I liked them better in the 80's. They sound like they are repeating themselves now.

Hmmm... the 80's am i missing a joke ? they only released one album ? and would of had to of been writing music as toddlers to produce music in the 80's.
see Wayne's point tho it's not a perfect album all the way through(modern love, like eating glass, banquet and so here we are are fantastic) but one of the most promising debut albums to come out of UK in a long time .

Great pulsating rhythm section. I hope they can repeat their first effort.

They seem to have everything going for them...

But I just can't connect with them at all. Sometimes it's just too much and too phoney.

When the 80's revival thing dies, they'll go right along with it...what's interesting is that there seems to be another group of bands this year as well...

I am still trying to time it so that thrash metal comes back RIGHT after I reform my old band Tormentor...so that we look like pioneers

it may be a different band, but there's one called Tormentor which seems to be a black metal band, related to Mayhem. You're not called Atilla Csihar, by any chance?

it would surely be surprising if Bloc Party would go in a metal direction from now on, I'm not sure if I'd like them more then, but it would at least be somewhat original.
