it would surely be surprising if Bloc Party would go in a metal direction from now on, I'm not sure if I'd like them more then, but it would at least be somewhat original.

Heehee...no relation to any black metal band...we were thrash/satan, though. Formed in 1986 by three brothers, disbanded in 1986 when some bitchy stepmom cried about her carpet getting drum oil on it.

It sucked in the '80s, too, and time, as they say, corrodes everything.

I refuse to listen to Bloc Party for the very shallow reason that someone whose guts I really hate rates this band very well and recommended it to me.

I accidentally listened to This Modern Love though and I liked it.

That's the worst thing I ever heard from a music fan. Form your own opinion, we all hate certain people.

Sometimes listeinng to music triggers unpleasant thoughts, though. It may be shallow, but it is often also very real. There are certain bands or songs that I choose not to listen to based on this. Usually I don't "hate" a band for this reason, but reluctance to listen to such music is actually very natural.

Harsh.

I did say This Modern Love is a decent track I just can't say I'll be a fan.
Besides, it's a little pretentious to say your choices are not influenced by people around you... not even slightly.
It has to be influenced by other people in some say.
