Who is the real "MTV"?

I was curious about what people thought about the different acclaimed "music television stations." MTV literally stands for music television but really only shows full music clips for insomniacs. There is also MTV2 but it fell into the reality tv shows by being more of a re-run of the shows missed on MTV. MTV is trying again (I guess) with MTVu. Hopefully it can stay devoted to music (3rd times a charm?). VH1 also is big on music but is slowly declining into the reality tv shows. And also Fuse, it's fairly new so it is a bit more dedicated to music than the others. So what's your thoughts and reasonings behind your favorite music television station?

Personally I am a VH1 fan. Behind The Music is one of the best shows I have ever seen. VH1 is rounded on all different types of music and doesnt only show clips of the recently popular bands/artists. Fuse is a close second but they play a little too much pop-rock for my taste. MTV might as well be considered an oxymoron in it's case.

There are no major music television stations that consistently play good music. Hell, I'm surprised when they play any good music.

muchmusic used to be pretty decent up here in canada. they've gone to shit over the last few years though, they're like a limp version of MTV's leftovers from what i see of them now.

They all suck, just like any other coporate network that needs to appeal to the masses.

I think MTV should change its name, it's no more Music what this network is about, it's all about shows and celebrity gossip, and the worst thing, they show you how rich the celebrities are and how they party and stuff, just to make you feel miserable LOL!, any way MTV should switch its name to "Hip-Hop-Emo-Bling-Crap-Gossip-TV.

MTV sucks. Its all cheesey reality shows/gossip/dumb stuff. They dont even play music. Unless you count TRL where they play a 5 second clip of a music video (barely audible over the cued to scream audience) but they only play 10 music videos- the same 10- just in a slightly different order- every day.
BOYCOTT MTV- bring the music back!
