amon tobin / eric truffaz
has anyone here heard of a split ep these two did? according to AMG truffaz is more of a jazzy trumpet guy a la st. germaine. i've got an mp3 'album' claiming to be a split but i can't find any info about it. the first 3 tracks are most definitely amon tobin though (they're the b-sides from the piranah breaks ep). i don't recognize anything else from it but it sounde pretty awesome. basically i'm wondering if it's all truffaz or if it's a valid collaboration.

I've never heard of the 'split' you're talking about so I would regard it as a fake. Just because I haven't heard of it doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist, just saying it may be a bootleg but definitely not an official recording. I have an Eric Truffaz album somewhere and I can't say that I really enjoyed it too much. I'll probably have another listen one of these days. It's funny how different Tobin's style has changed over the years. He goes from drill n bass/jazz type styles with 'Bricolage' and then changes to almost a completely jazz type feel with 'Permutation' and then does a 180 when 'Supermodified' came out and has progressed with his 'space type percussion' ever since.

yeah that's the weird thing. the piranah break tracks being a permutation single indicate an earlier career thing but then the truffaz tracks sound pretty spaced out for the most part. like you say it's most likely a bootleg and an internet only one at that hehe.
as for tobin i'm curious to hear what he'll come out with next as a solo project. the chaos theory soundtrack was great in the game but i couldn't really get into it as an album.
