Honestly, I'm all excited about being able to afford Digital Performer 5 @ $350 academic discount this month.

I just wanted to show him the truly obscene, if he thinks Live is overpriced.

Well, I'm pretty much an outspoken supporter of logic but if you're a PC user then that option isn't open to you.

Most DAW's are capable of the same thing, be it cubase, ableton, sonar, DP, logic etc.

Ableton 5 doesn't support hard disk recording (so you're screwed for vocals/guitar etc) but I believe version 6 is going to include this.

I'd suggest getting demos and playing with them both until you decide which is right for you.

It's a LOT of money and you need to play about and find out what works for you.
