1. This is the warning that comes with all ipod's.

"permanent hearing loss may occur if earphones or headphones are used at high volume."

2. They had to pull them in France and update the software to limit sound to 100 decibels.

3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4162028.stm

4. A plane taking off is 110 decibles, an ipod 105 at max.

Listening to loud music for extended periods of time using headphones or earpieces has been proven to cause irreversible damage to your hearing. Since the iPods became very popular, many researchers believe that hearing loss will be at an all time high for all age groups.

Many artists, including Peter Townsend from Pink Floyd, have become spokespersons to get out the dangers of headphones.

The issue hasn't really been in the spotlight though... largely because its bad business for Apple.

If you are already experiencing ear problems... do yourself a favor and stop. Get speakers that plug into your iPod and listen to your music that way. Don't lose the only thing that makes you capable of listening to music.

Cheers.

Oopsie. The Who

I didn't really read the article. For some reason, I associated the guy with bad hearing, with someone in Floyd.

I usually listen to my iPod when I'm goin to bed (to fall asleep to).

Sometimes I fall asleep with the headphones on until they naturally fall out of my ears. But, I listen to them at very low volume.

I'd guess that they are in my ears for 1-2 hours

Your parents don't let you listen to music? Like, certain kinds of music, or music period?
