Ah, man, I just read the 'me + my parents = no music' thing! Dude, that's harsh! Jazzfromhell asked you a question. Answer the man!!

Like, not even, Mozart or anything? Surely they let you listen to Lead Belly...
Listened to John Lee Hooker with Burning Hell

Yes, I'm sure they'd let him listen to the guy who was a convicted murderer, before Mozart.

Hey, Mozart was no saint! He used to give poisoned milk to school children.

Yeah, but is it because they think it'll hurt your ears, or because they don't want you listening to music, period?

Did they buy it for you?!

Why don't they allow you to listen to it?

Just to clarify, why can't you listen to music with normal speakers, instead of headphones?

It depends on how well you can concentrate while listening to music. Personally, I listen to music while doing my homework. It slows me down, but on school nights I don't have much else to do anyway (other than practicing music, reading, and if I have any extra time, going on IM), so I don't really mind. If you can tell that music's distracting you too much to focus on doing and learning your work, I wouldn't reccomend it.
