up...thats kinda not the greatest definition...i would say anything that uses electronics to manipulate sounds could be defined as 'electronic music', but i dont know...its hard to tie down. Artists like Autechre, and Aphex Twin are easy to nail down but others arn't so easy. Composers who use tape manipulations is electronic music. Field recording artists are electronic music. So really the genre encompases a wide variety of music while a few sub genres are given the majority of the publicity.

I was going to go all Satchmo, but then I noticed he was only 15.

At least, he isn't posting about Linkin Park, Korn, Slipknot or Britney.

It has to do with the amount of electronic sounds applied to the music. If say about 80% of the sounds are manipulated or created by electronic instruments, I would call it electronic music. Why so high amount? Because many other genres can use plenty of electronics without breaking from their genres sound, but applying real instruments into an electronic track changes the characteristics drastically.

It means to me music that could not have been created without the extended use of computers.
