very accurate one zlatko. i'd put it this way though

"music that could not have been created without the extended use of computers, synthetizers, drum machines, samplers, sequencers or any electronic equipment"

concrete musicians like dockstader or henry were NOT electronic musicians because they used mechanical equipment not electronic...

So that would mean that rock played with a POD and a drum machine is electronic? Even if it sounds nothing like electronic music?

Personaly I classify it into 3 sections:
EDM, being dance music made electronicly with lots of sequencers and synths.
Electronica, being non dance music that uses alot of sequencers and synths yet also leaves room for acoustic instruments (Shpongle)
And electronic, being any genre that uses electronic instruments (electric guitar)

However, because electronic covers such a broad range I usually never use this as an example and lump it in togeather with EDM and Electronica.

to add to what zlatko and _______ said.... i'd say electronic music is defined by the fact that the artist creating the music is more of a producer than an actual musician in the traditional sense of the words and where the production stretches the music beyond what is normally achievable through traditional means. so that performing the music requires more digital and electronic devices as opposed to traditional instruments and a greater number of musicians.

while the above can be vague i'll use tom jenkinson(squarepusher) and trey spruance (secret chiefs 3) as examples to better define it. both men are phenomenal musicians on their respective instruments and both are recognized as incredibly talented producers but jenkinson IS electronic while spruance is not.

with jenkinson even on his early work where his jazz stylings were more evident the bulk of what was heard couldn't be achieved without extensive digital manipulation of the sounds (especially where the drums were concerned).

spruance on the other hand even though his music is just as thick, everything is still made up of traditional elements and is still performed with traditional instruments (for the most part).

Electronica, non-danceable? So you're calling acid, house, techno, drum n' bass and jungle all 'EDM'?
