So i want to get into DJing? Any hints and suggestions? Been looking for some turntables (fingers crossed i win my current ebay bid) for a while. Anyone suggest a mixer? I don't really know what im getting myself into...any advice from someone more experienced would be appreciated.

I'd agree with that, when speaking about beat mixing dance music... it's a whole bunch easier with CD's or even a computer... sure, there's DJ's out there that will huff and puff and yell "But that aint traditional styles, dawg! You gotta spin vinyl!", but I'm not interested in being traditional, I'm more interested in sounding good...

However, if you wanna learn how to scratch... then I'm afraid vinyl is still the only medium that cuts it. And before anyone yells "But Ive used Traktor blah blah DJ thingo!, and its teh fully sik uleh!"... no, its shit. As are all the CD turntables I've used. Two decks and a mixer is still the only way to cut up.

get an mpc before you get tables and start sampling shit. you create the beats then find the stuff youre sampling and use the tables to scratch the shit out of well, that shit.
