Bob Dylan is vastly overrated.

Ya know, I always suspected. Go on, everyone, spread the word!

Despite the Genuis of Brother Jim Coyler, I'm not a fan of Dylan, never have been. I find him merely tolerable at his best. Now, with that said, I do respect the man, his influence on songwriters (not on musicians, for I find Dylan's abilities as a composer are greatly overshadowed by his prowess with the pen), and his place in pop culture.

I love Bob Dylan. I agree that his talent for writing lyrics exceeds his talent as an actual guitar player but Bob Dylan is the freaking man . His lyrics are so passionate and creative, there are very few(if any) who have exceeded his lyrical talent. The somewhat simple but catchy melodys he play blend nicely with his lyrics. All together the man knows how to make amazing albums and has continued to do so over the years.

The thing about Dylan that is most amazing is the breadth of his impact on other artists. I was just listening to Dorian Myshkin's new album 'Wake Up Now' the other day and thinking how it was a new sound- but he owes so much to Dylan. Check out the album at:

i like him as much as i love mr. bungle or cunnilinguists. hes good, but a lot of "him being a great artist" rubs off and makes it easy for people to like him or think hes the greatest.
