"I don't want anyone touching me. I'm tired of everybody touching me."
- Spears's response to the cut.

That's actually very sad. Sign of an already occured breakdown, and inevitable explosion.

Cutting her hair like that is a form of self-mutilation. I can't imagine it will be long before authorities at least start proceedings in regards to her children.

I have no idea what more she needs to do before the leeches/enablers realize their meal ticket might not be around much longer.

i honestly thought she was going to be able to pull off a madonna and re-invent herself after she ditched ferderline. then again madonna never needed handlers.

it's quite sad especially for the kids but at least britney was famous for something. unlike paris hilton or anna nicole smith who's only claim to fame is/was being 'rich'.

While they're both equally talentless....Madonna is one of the most intelligent and determined people you will meet in Entertainment. Keep in mind, she actually went to a real school while growing up and went to Michigan University for two years before going to NY. Even thought she went on a Dance scholarship, she had to get accepted based on her grades to get in.

She went to NY to be a ballet dancer with around $50 to $100 in her pocket.

Even when the Sex/Erotica bit backfired on her in a way that would have killed most careers, she still found a way to re-invent herself several more times in the last 15-years since.

Britney and Lindsay Lohan are two of many children who grew up in the Industry that are barely taught anything in private classes on sets.

They have both been spoiled since they were a kids; while Madonna grew up knowing what it was like to be short on money and later on what it was like to be out on her own and broke.

The closest comparision would be Christina Aguilera. Although, Aguilera actually has real talent....even if it is wasted on the crap she sings.

Aguilera did the same "I am going to prove I am an Adult Woman and Partying" bit, but she or those around her were able to realize that she had gone too far and it was hurting her career.

It also helped that she married someone who wasn't a leech and enabler like Britney did. Britney and Ferderline were very similar to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown.

Both Britney and Aguilera tried to copy Madonna but it appears that only Aguilera really learned how to "re-invent" when it's not working or slowing down.

i think that pretty much sums it all up. but is it really the industry's fault or the ever fattening average north american citizen who supports said industry?

Several states with California leading the way have passed all kinds of laws and the Industry provides them the teachers and they're required to be in class a certain amount of hours a day, but it's still no different than the real world....it really all depends on the parents.

If their parents take their children's education seriously you will have Jodie Foster and Danica McKellar. If they don't....

P.S. Canada could use some Child Labor Laws for those in the Entertainment world.

As a musician, I look for quality of content and artistic integrity in any music I bother to purchase or to listen to on a recurring basis. I've never had any interest in the music of Britney Spears, because, honestly, in what little I've ever heard of her work I have found little to nothing of either quality. As I've observed from a distance her negative influence on culture (particularly on young girls), I've never had any real reason to respect Ms. Spears as a person, either. On this and other music forums, I have unapologetically referred to Ms. Spears as "a slut" many times.

All the above notwithstanding, I'm beginning to have a very real and profound pity for this young woman, as I am forced to watch (even if it's in fitful glances) her life spinning out of control and falling apart in public, under the relentless and cruel camaras of ever-present paparazzi and all-intrusive media. Raised in a supposedly "Christian" home, but groomed from the age of 8 to be a starlet by her parents, then presented to the world as a teenage sexpot from her first recording onward, this girl never had a chance to experience anything remotely resembling a healthy transition from childhood to adolescence to responsible adulthood, and our culture has offered her nothing but constant harrassment (which she is conditioned to both crave and loathe simultaneously in her obviously unhealthy state of emotional and spiritual health).

After several years of feeling only disgust and disrespect for this person, I suddenly find myself feeling deep sorrow for her, and a genuine desire to pray that somehow she will be rescued from the horrible downward spiral that she has found herself in.

Well when the Good Rev. and I can both feel sorry for Britney....

She apparently checked in and out of Rehab yet again. Since she keeps checking out in what would be the first 24hrs detox period....she really must be on something that has serious withdrawls.

P.S. Paparazzi are lower on the evolution ladder than cockroaches.

Hm. Can I buy Britney-shares? Seriously, they must be pretty low now. And I can see it coming, in a few months they'll go up like an ArianeIV!
