Happy 76th Birthday, Ornette Coleman

Today, March 9th is Ornette Coleman's 76th Birthday.

WKCR will be having their annual 24 Hour Birthday Broadcast.

Miles really didn't care for him doing this.

They usually play a lot of out of print or live recordings which haven't been released, as well. So don't miss out on the broadcast today and tomorrow.

Well we got Side 1 of Free Jazz, which was interrupted by several phone calls from people who actually wanted me to do work

Then we get this idiot talking about Ornette some more. I assume he will present us with Side 2 when he isn't regaling us with his take on Coleman's music.

I haven't had time to listen, but what the person doing the talking be one Phil "Major Hack" Schaap? *

If so, there will be about 20 times as much talking as music and a good deal of what he says isn't exactly accurate if not just something he made up. Keep in mind, outside of Mr. Major Hack, the rest of WKCR's DJ's understand it's all about the music. *

So, they will be playing a lot of great and rare recordings.

*

This is a public service announcement.

Satchmo's use of the word hack, has now been shown to cause the subconscious of certain people to react in a paranoid manner. Now....combined with another word that starts with an S and ends with an R, this leads to a paranoid meltdowan, which results in a temper tantrum and elementary school level insults. This even happens, if neither word were directed to the person who the meldown happens to. Someting in their subconscious must be at work, is what Freud would say.

Thank You, and Satchmo hopes you enjoy the Ornette Coleman Festival!

James Earl Jones will be reading this warning, as you leave the thread and go through the lobby.
