Well, it didn't have Roger Waters writing the lyrics.

I put a fork in Gilmour years ago. Even what was probably his best solo album, About Face, wasn't anything to write home about. I've heard some clips, and it's clear he hasn't seen a sudden gain in songwriting skills, but to be fair I haven't heard enough of the lyrics to figure out if he's still as weak in that area as he has been throughout his career.

I agree, he became forkable long ago, now he's just overcooking.

You need to get Wish you were Here.

I listened to it. It has a some good moments but the bad moments are so depressing it's almost not worth it. Put it this way, I consider AMLOR quite sub-par compared to Rogers-ear Floyd. And this record is a lot worse than AMLOR. But it's better than Rog's new opera.

I like the album a lot. Musically, it is kind of a "relaxed" version of Pink Floyd, which fits the lyrics well, which are about being at a relaxed and contented season of life...something Pink Floyd could never have done an album about!

I get the distinct impression that there may be disappointment among some fans that David hasn't delivered us another "dark" album. Well, give the guy a break...isn't he entitled to a little happiness after all these years?

Good point Rev. I rather like the album. A bit "sleepy" feeling but then I like that from time to time. I think David Gilmour is more than entitled to do whatever the hell he wants. I saw Pink Floyd on their Wall tour and it was the best concert I've ever been to in my entire forty-some odd years of life. The band also put out the album I consider the closest thing to perfection - DSOTM.

He's done plenty and now he's having a good time with people he enjoys. Good for him. I'd love to have been able to have seen him in concert this last go around.
