Bruce Cockburn

I just discovered him. Are there any fans? I don't much about him, but I like what I have heard. Any good albums/songs?

Cockburn's early stuff is his best. He wrote one of my favourite lyrics:

"Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight"
from 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time'

His website www.brucecockburn.com is well put together.

He is also a very under-rated guitarist and I'm afraid that you'd have to see live footage or some such other event to be able to realize this.
Like The Zola alluded to...he is a great lyricist...

Furthering Donkey's mentioning of Cockburn's guitar playing, heard an interesting quote from Eddie Van Halen: back in the 80's a journalist asked Ed what it felt like to be the greatest guitarist in the world. Ed replied, "Ask Bruce Cockburn."

I also love the song 'Badlands Flashback'. What evocative imagery set within beautiful instrumentation. The whole 'Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws' album is worth listening to. It has his hit, 'Wondering Where the Lions are' on it, too. Later albums would take his spirituality into more rocked up political territory.
