Favorite Drummers
Basically post your favorite drummer, then tell why!
here is a good website with tons of links to tons of drummers and pics, pages, setup, biography, samples etc. ,(chances are your choice will be on this site) if not try and find something telling about your pick
go here www.drummerworld.com
well ill start off and tell about my favorite drummer, Danny Carrey i like his style, he blends so well with the band and the tom beats in the songs are just.. out of this world cool. Hes a humble player and doesnt showcase his talent unless he needs to. Overall a great player and (as a player myself) i would like to have a style similar to his
heres his page on drummer world http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Danny_Carey.html
everyone post their fav's now!

I have soooo many fav drummers...Neil Peart, Scott Rockenfield, Vinnie Paul, etc. I really like drums and a good drummer elevates a band instantly.

interesting you would mention him. i have been helping one of my students with "ticks & leaches". it is predominitely in 7/4 and is quite a cool part...
as far as living drummers, dennis chambers, steve gadd, chad wackerman, mike portnoy, bill bruford, joey baron, jeff watts, come to mind immediately...
be sure to work on that time, along with the flashy stuff...

i like stephen perkins a lot. just listen to anything by jane's addiction for an example of his skill and style. very awesome.
matt cameron is another favorite for his work with soundgarden. odd timings all over the place but never sounds overly complicated.

I spent like 3 hours trying to learn the beginning drum intro to ticks and leaches, i found a tab for guitar pro and just listened to the song, i can play it but it doesnt sound right because i dont have as many drums as danny, nor do i my drums sound anything like his. I need to get some time in on the shcool drumset (its got 6 toms, to my 3) but nonetheless i mastered the beat so i was happy!
Oh and steve gadd is probably my favorite jazz drummer, hes insane with those triplet fills and paradiddle grooves

negate, turn the snares off and use that for your highest pitched tom. that's what he does. you can re-engage them on that four beats rest between the sections...
elvin jones is of course, one of the greatest ever. the dead guys would be a whole other list. tony williams, buddy rich, and on and on...

i was playing those shots at the end of the 7th and like 3rd (i think) beat on my snare, but they might not be snare shots, the tab i had said they were a slap stick type thing, ill just have to fiddle with it
