Electronica composition
I want to get into making my own Electronica Tracks...only played around with software like Fruity Loops and a demo of Cakewalk. Can anyone help me and tell me what kind of equipment I need? e.g. Keyboard, synthesizer, etc?
Thanks!

you should start cheap while you learn what you want and how do you want it. by the time you know that you will already know enough to spend your money wisely.
btw what kind of "electronica" you listen / want to do...?

i would say the most important thing to do is to listen listen listen. and like David (___) has asked, find out what your sound is. where do your interests lie? minimal equipment is really needed anymore. a computer is good enough. simple programs that you already have like Fruity Loops are great. stick with them and learn them inside out..even though it is very hard to even learn anything inside out, but i guess get to know it as your friend.

Ok thanks. I have been listening for about 6 years. I like trance, I really like Oakenfold, DJ Quiksilver, Robert Miles, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Aura...so just a computer and Fruity Loops or Cakewalk...and then copy the tracks I make onto a CD?

reason sounds like a noice choice for you
once you have the software, go to this site
http://www.reasonstation.net/index.php
and you will learn a lot by downloading other people's tracks and also tutorial and learn from the forums they have for reason users.

Thanks...I like what I see about Reason. Is this software better than Cakewalk? Do you prefer Mac over PC for music composition?

reason has a crap rendering engine unfortunately, it's worth recording the output to a seperate wave editor.

I'm afraid Reason would be the very worst choice for this kind of music...
Reason is okay for classic trance, but not at all for Dj Quicksilver-like productions...
I don't like it at all, but I think FL Studio would do it for you. My personal favorite is Cubase SX.
