dean phantom ml

i've always liked the dean ML body style but never liked the idea of playing a dimebag signature. I realise that The ML is normally acosiated with more of a metal soudn, and i tend to be more of an alternative rock person, but i was wondering if anyone out there new anyhitng abtou the dean phantom ML or another similar guitar that is of good quality without being terribly expensive.

Well trip, what is your idea of 'not terribly expensive'? It is difficult to give a recommendation in today's marketplace based upon a vague description...however, I can recommend a few things if I know your budget...let me know...

the phantom ML is about $300 US. so you're basically gonna be in the range for mexican fenders and epiphones. as for the dean, i've never really tried them but i think the main reason they're so associated with metal is their distinct shape and dimebag (obviously). it's not to say they're only good for metal though, the only brand of guitars i know that basically 'made for metal' are BC Rich guitars.

if you want something with a similar look but a more alterna rock feel you might want to check out epiphone explorers or firebirds.

eBay is a wonderful resource for nice guitars at good prices...just make sure that you check people's feedback before you buy...especially with being in the U.S. you have an advantage as most of the listings are in the U.S. and the shipping in many cases is less.
I think that you should possibly look into the ESP LTD line...something with Seymour Duncan pickups-the JB and 59 combo...
