Muslimgauze

just saw a review of this act on Pitchfork and apparently he'd been out for years before he died a few years ago...never heard any albums, any recommendations or words about it?

okay, I downloaded Sector 1, masawi wife & child, and a 3-min of live excerpt.

so far so dark! it is definitely not happy dancey music.

Sector 1 is a dark ambient track, some weird noises popping out here on top of some droning kinda noise. It reminds me of Scorn without the super heavy bass. I really like this one track!

Masawi wife & child is like a middle eastern favor minimal hip hop track.

the live excerpt is just a 3-min of a drum loop, but it sounds pretty cool.

I am trying to download more stuff from him now. will tell more later.

well I might just go out on a limb and buy some of the stuff...I need to be more diverse, I'm strictly just jazz, electronic, classical, and metal right now

the problem with muslimgauze is that they got so many releases to choose from, and you may want to do some research before paying your hard-on cash.

I downloaded 13 songs last nite from muslimgauze, all 13 tracks have names like Sector 1, Sector 2, so on and so forth. but I really dig the first track. I think it is one whole album. I will report to you after listening to them later.

that's pretty diverse already, no???

yeah, pitchfork made a comment..."Because Jones was a workaholic, his anger found an outlet in recording, and he was pissed off, indeed: The discography page of his official website lists more than 150 releases since 1982. I didn't look closely to see how many of those are albums proper, but it's a lot. If he were alive today, with everything that's happening, he'd probably be putting out a new album every two hours. The pace would kill him."

this is probably a good place to start if you want to purchase something from Muslimgauze.

found this on http://www.soleilmoon.com/store/arti...-token.skip=20

This is the third in Staalplaat’s bi-annual series of 'Best of Muslimgauze Limited Edition'. These CD's are intended for those who think that Muslimgauze was an over productive unit, but think that they should still keep up with some of what Muslimgauze was doing. So after a couple of limited editions only, Staalplaat releases a best of. 'Speaking With Hamas' was compiled by Bryn Jones himself early 1997 and he thought it would be nice to include a new, previously unreleased track. In his words: "It's for people who don't deserve it". track list: 1. Devour from muhammadunize 2. Palestine is our Islamic Land from Deceiver disc 1 3. Return of black September from Black September 4. Thuggee from Black September 5. 12 Azzazins from Azzazin 6. Anti-arab media Censor from Tajik 7. Deceiver from Deceiver disc 1 8. Shaheed Bonus track
