I did go there yesterday and the site wouldn't let me listen for some strange reasons... I will try again later.

oh they also have this CD from Atom Heart. I need to sample this one too.

Artist: DOS TRACKS
Title: LP

I have 2 albums from Atom Heart, and he used the name Senor Coconut. those 2 albums are like a bastardised versions of south american dance music and the other one is bastardised cover versions of Kraftwerk songs which become south american dance music.

hey man, try it again, the reason why you're probably getting error messages is because it opens in an internal player...

ok, back on topic...

So, does anyone else think this guy was ahead of his time? Some of his material is just beautiful, while others are repetitive, while others make you bob your head back and forth, etc...I'm listening to "Return of Black September" and it has a somewhat dark feeling to it in the beginning, something I like a lot. Just curious about your thoughts now, since it's been awhile

It's funny when you read through old threads thinking they're new...

Anyway, I remember hearing about Muslimgauze about two years ago, loved the name and became fascinated. Then I read some stuff and found him to be a bit misguided (but who isn't) and his stuff I downloaded sounded not bad, just kinda generic, so became less fascinated overall. I forget the names but I think I lost them anyway.

It's sad he died, but I haven't heard anyone refer to him as an influence, and as far as being ahead of his time I'd maybe have to hear his really early stuff because the stuff I heard was from the mid '90s apparently.

Enigmatic, nonetheless...

yeah, not many people list him as an influence because well, he had his own style, as I've said. The only kind of influence may be in his work ethic. It's amazing how much material he put out, whether it be minimal or not. Same could be said about Wolfgang Voight, Uwe Schmidt and Steve Roach.

Maybe I was a bit rough on him, but when someone told me about him, they compared him to Merzbow! So I was underwhelmed by that I guess. They must have meant his work ethic too.
