The new acts are rated way too high, Arctic Monkeys especially, along with Franz Ferdinand and the Libertines. Great bands, but not better than the likes of Pink Floyd, who don't even appear on the list. Also, only one album by the Who? Only one from the Jam? Too much Britpop too, imo. Horrible list.

indeed, and anyway there's enough moaning about NME as it is. you'd better not even look at these lists as it's a given that it'll annoy the most of you...

We should start Radio Mute Magazine, "We take the bullshit out of music journalism."

It may be bullshit to RadioMute, but consider the key demographic of the NME: young, indie-loving british males whose musical heritage is *primarily* britpop and the better-known bands for the 60s, 70s and 80s ... essentially people like me.

Personally, I don't agree with the ordering of the list, but then no-ones EVER going to, especially with the arctic monkeys so high up (it is a good album by the way, but if your not a young british NME reader you'd probably miss the finer points of the lyrics).

I think it'd be a joke if you were a young british hipster as well.

We'd sell out and start hugging some overhyped garage band's nuts within the year.

I'm in.

You can't be a part until you have access to the super special parts of this site.
Like the fun slide, and the wang-o-meter.
