Kaizers Orchestra last night. Not as good as the first time I saw them but it was still great... Gypsy ompa rock'n'roll with banging on oilbarrels, a pump organ, upright bass and great guitar riffs. It won't be too surprising after that list of elements that they came up with Tom Waits' "Russian Dance". But they're way more rock'n'roll than Waits. Great how they had an Elvis impersonator as roadie too. They've toured through nearly the whole of Europe already, but will only go for their first gig in the Uk in May. Ah it's probably because they sing in a Norwegian dialect, which is one of the things I like best about them...

Went to a place in Antwerp yesterday (Hof ter Lo) to see the greatest rock and roll band around: The Reverend Horton Heat.

Opening gig was by a dutch band from Eindhoven Rock city, and they were called JUDASVILLE. Sounded good and fast, but they didn't really surprise me. I give them benefit of the doubt though. Being the opener is always hard, specially when you sound completely different than the two following bands!

Second band to play was THE SCOTCH GREENS. These guys were great! Never heard of them before, but I became a fan right after the first song. Sounded very fresh, and it's great music for boppin'.

And then there was THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT. The first 35 minutes came over me as a fast train! Then finally a little chit-chat with the crowd so we could have a little break there (we could use it! Pit was tougher than any psychobilly gig ). The crowd could do requests for the next fifty minutes, and then came the encores. What I witnessed last night was pure music magic! Never saw artists having so much fun on stage, and still play an excellent set. It was rock and roll as it's ment to be: raw, pure, honest and a little trailerpark touch, yet classy and funny.

Hits that passed were: galaxy500, Psychobilly freakout, 400 bucks, marihuana, bales of cocaine, like a rocket, baddest of the bad, Martini Time,
Beer Liquor and wine, Whiggle Stick, ...

you can find pics of this concert (taken by someone I totally don't know) at

Next gigs I'll be goin to: SLIM JIM PHANTOM (ex-Stray Cats) on april 24th in Gent. And on may 6th I'll go to the Frantic Flintstones and Reverend Beatman in the town of Geel.
Listened to Legendary Raw Deal with Cocaine Blues

That will be my next concert, or should I say concerts. I have attended the Beale Street Music Festival four years in a row now and cant get enough of it. Concerts start at 2pm and run as late as 4am. They set up four or five stages/tents and the fans have to run back and forth between them. Luckily most of the time, the bands I want to see arent far from each other or all at the same stage, the Budweiser Stage
Listened to DJ X with Track 01

Ok, I just went to GRASPOP METAL MEETING for 4 days, and saw 4 excellent gigs.

New York Dolls: Great show! Loved every minute of it! Crowd went nuts during Personality Crisis. Not too much crowd to play for (but a hardcore one) for the guys, but I guess they just were misplaced on a metal festival.

Up The Irons: An Iron Maiden coverband from Holland, but wow!, what a coverband!!! It was a little side-stage for, let's say 1/5 of the whole graspop crowd, but I think half off the people were there! They sounded EXACTLY like Maiden. Best thing was when the crowd started yelling MAIDEN!!! MAIDEN!!! And sang along to the intro of 'fear of the dark'. If you closed your eyes, you thought you were on a real maiden-gig. Best surprise of the festival.

Ignite: I liked this band alot, but after the release of Past our means, I lost interest in hardcore generally. I think I can say I rediscovered them, cos they did a great show, and make me wanna buy all albums. Excellent cover version of 20eyes. (Singer sang with Misfits for awhile?!)

Motorhead: The big headliner. The sound sucked, and it felt like a big, giant wall of noise. Exactly whata Motorhead-gig should be.

And I'm goin to see BB King in september. Also nice.

Eddie Money Show

The most recent concert i went to was a Eddie Money concert. It was taken place at the Marin County Fair, on July 1st. It was awesome becasue Eddie opened his set up with "Two Tickets To Paradise," which was awesome! he got the crowd dancing off their chairs and singing along with him too. His energy was just solid and enjoyable. I think I'd go see him again the next time he comes back to marin County.

I recently saw BB King turning 81 on stage in Brussels, and it was great! The man has so much charisma. He makes quite an impression! The horn section was hilarious.

In about six weeks this is about to happen:
