Canadian Music

Hello! I am new to this forum as a member, but have been 'lurking' for quite sometime. I hope it is appropriate to post this here, I apologize if it's not.

I hate to be posting for the first time requesting help, but I greatly admire everyone's taste in music here and hope you can pass off some of your knowledge to me .

I am currently working on a project dealing with Canadian Music. I have done all of the work for the research aspect but what I'm now looking for is examples of great Canadian music. I'm putting together a compilation of the best Canadian songs of any and every genre. I have many of the more 'popular' artists already, yet I'm also hoping to find some great songs by other, lesser-known musicians. This includes just about every genre and even those artists who can't necessarily be classified into one.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone here has some specific Canadian artists or their songs that you enjoy or if you could possibly point me in the direction of other places I can seek this information. I have been looking quite thoroughly for this kind of thing, but, unfortunately, I can't seem to get past the Shania Twain and Bryan Adams references that it seems all Canadian music is known for .

Hopefully this post makes sense and thank you very much for your time!

Grace.
