Didn't Vai have something similar like 20 years ago already, only it sounded alot better?

vai had 3 necks on his heart shaped guitar during his stint with david lee roth.
i've already seen clips of batio and his double neck action and it's beyond lame. sure there's some technical merit to tapping your fingers in time with each other but then there's the ungodly amount of compression and delay on his tone too so he doesn't have to touch the strings as hard. i'll give him props for doing lead and melody for highway star but smoke on the water is about the simplest riff out there. and his take on purple haze... i won't say it's the nastiest one i've heard only because i've heard winger's cover.
vai would win this competition hands down. even when he tries showing off his traditional metal styles batio is slow and sloppy compared to the likes of vai. anyone else notice that they're playing to an empty room? novelty acts like batio only appeal to the shred demo crowds and new guitar players who haven't grown beyond the numbers.
here's a pic of vai's guitar you can see it in the video for david lee roth's 'just like paradise'. but when it comes to multi neck guitars i don't think anyone has topped rick neilsen from cheap trick and his 6 necked beasts.
i also thought this was going to be about double guitar solos as in harmony solos. like the one at the end of 'hotel california' or the one in 'detroit rock city'.

Hm, I actually liked Winger's version of Purple Haze, but nevermind that.
I can't see how one could like this clip. Is there any point to it other than showing off? It's boring. And, see Panbient, it seems to be rather lame, too. And it looks sh8te.
Next time please upload George Lynch clips.

how other to showcase your talent than to play a solo? If you didnt like it you dont have to post, and you posted twice, but i guess theres nothing better to look at on these forums : /
Ive never seen that hoss with the three necks play though, thats a sweet looking one as well. Although if it was the solo in hotel california i guess its alright but nothing exceptional.

A solo/instrumental on a "regular" guitar would do just fine. And this solo was absolutely uninteresting musically. It was just meant as a show-off, plus it was technically rather weak.
Download "Mr. Scary" by Dokken if you wanna hear a technically strong but still tasteful metal-instrumental. Done with only 1 neck BTW.

I am not talking about Musicianship, i dont know about that, but skill, I know this guy isnt the best ever to play, but i thought the two guitars blazing at the same time was pretty cool. excuse me, im a music novice, i thought he was the only guy to ever play something like that.
But still, you dont have to be in a Band, or play songs to have skill at playing the guitar.
ill update again after i look at what you posted.
